The Three Biggest Upgrades
1. Electronic auto shifting
The original MUXI is single speed. The MUXI Pro adds a 9-speed drivetrain with electronic auto shifting that reads your speed, cadence and incline to choose the gear. You can set a preferred cadence and pick Casual, Standard or Sport mode in the Segway Mobility App. Learn more in How MUXI Pro’s Auto-Shift and Smart Features Work.
2. Front suspension
A 70 mm front suspension fork replaces the MUXI’s rigid fork, smoothing out potholes, curbs and rough city pavement.
3. Faster Class 3 top speed and turn signals
Class 3 pedal assist goes up to 28 mph on the MUXI Pro, compared with 23 mph on the MUXI, where local law allows. Integrated turn signals are also new.
What Reviewers Said About the Upgrade

What Stayed the Same
Both bikes share the same 750 W direct-drive motor, 717 Wh battery, hydraulic brakes, 20″ × 3.0″ tires and cargo ratings. They also share motor-based rider aids: Traction Control, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Kinetic Energy Recovery and Adaptive Power, plus AirLock and Apple Find My.
The original MUXI has also collected strong reviews of its own, including long-term tests from Electric Bike Review and Popular Science.
Which One Should You Buy?
Choose the MUXI Pro if you ride hills, want a smoother ride on rough streets, want the option of 28 mph where legal, or simply don’t want to think about gears.
Choose the MUXI if your rides are mostly short and flat, you want the lighter bike (72.75 lbs), or you want to save $300. Still deciding? Book a test ride at a Segway dealer near you and try both.
